The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning from 1 p.m. today until 1 a.m. Thursday for Chautauqua, Cattaraugus and Southern Erie County.
Forecasters say the snow will arrive this afternoon and remain in the area until late Wednesday night. The storm is expected to bring heavy and blowing snow throughout the region with accumulations of an inch this afternoon, but as much as 4 to 8 inches tonight and another 3 to 5 inches on Wednesday during the day and 2 to 4 inches Wednesday night. Bringing the overall projected total to 10 to 15 inches.
In addition to the snow, heavy winds on Wednesday will created blowing and drifting snow. The storm will result in very difficult Thanksgiving holiday travel and could also created some isolated power outages.
