MAYVILLE – It was a hot and humid weekend for much of Chautauqua County, but fortunately, only a limited amount of rain meant that clean up efforts could continue for the communities that were hit hard by flooding last week.

According to Chautauqua County executive Vince Horrigan, County Emergency Services are still taking requests for assistance and coordinating debris removal and clean up.

In addition, the Westfield boil water alert and conservation warnings have been lifted. Water testing for individual properties and wells is also taking place from 9 to 4 today at the Portland Fire Department.

And the County Dept. Health & Human Services will continue this week to process applications for temporary assistance for emergency food stamps, food replacement, emergency housing, relocation, and Medicaid Card replacements. Officials will also provide assistance with water tank replacement/furnace replacement/limited home repair assistance, provision of air conditioners or fans to qualifying applicants.

For more information, call 363-4582 If you live in the North end of the County, 753-4582 Mayville Office, 661-7582 South County Office.
