PUERTO RICO – Governor Andrew Cuomo is in Puerto Rico today with a New York delegation that will discuss the Puerto Rican government’s ongoing healthcare crisis and economic challenges.
The Governor and the delegation will be meeting with Puerto Rican officials and will also be discussing the need for Washington to take action to help Puerto Rico. Specifically, Cuomo is calling on Congress to give the troubled island the power to declare bankruptcy.
The Governor said that Puerto Rico is faced with a real crisis situation in both health care and their economy and the goal of the trip is for state leaders to find ways to be as helpful as possible.
The delegation includes:
Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie along with several other local, state and federal representatives.
