FREDONIA – The investigation continues into last month’s police-involved fatal shooting in the village of Fredonia.
The Buffalo News is reporting the identity of the man who was shot to death on December 10 at 76 Liberty Street was 23-year-old George Penev.
The man’s family, from Wyoming County, had requested that his name not be released until relatives who lived outside the U.S. could be notified.
Penev allegedly went after Police Officer Nathan Scriven with a knife during the incident, which resulted in Scriven fatally shooting Penev, claiming self defense.
The Chautauqua County District Attorney’s Office is handling the case and the investigation is still ongoing.
