ALBANY – Senator Cathy Young has announced that several libraries in her district will begin receiving additional funding that she secured during this year’s legislative session. According to Young’s office, every library in her Senate district will receive $6,800 from the State Education Department (SED).
Young said that today’s libraries are more than just places to take out books. She said they serve as a home for after-school programs, host informative public events and educational presentations, and provide Internet access and valuable resources to job seekers. The Senator added that budget constraints often limit the ability of libraries to provide the services people have come to rely on, which is why this additional funding is so important.
