Today is the first day of winter and if it’s not evident now, it will be by late this evening. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for parts of Western New York including all of Chautauqua County from 11 a.m. today until 4 p.m. Saturday. During that time, as much as 8 to 14 inches of snow is expected to fall, with the heaviest accumulations begin late this afternoon into the evening. A large amount of heavy and blowing snow is also expected for tomorrow morning and early afternoon.
The heavy snow, combined with win speeds over 20 mph, will make for low visibility and difficult travel conditions – especially across higher terrain. Motorists are asked to be aware of the conditions and take extra time getting to and from your destinations.
As a result of the weather, the Warren County School District in Pennsylvania is closed for today. No other closings have been announced.
