MORNING NEWS: Waterways Project Grant Application Deadline is June 1

JAMESTOWN – The Chautauqua County Department of Planning and Economic Development would like to remind those interested in applying for grant funding for lake and waterways projects that the applications are due no later than 4 p.m. on June 1, 2013.

This earmarked funding for the enhancement and protection of the lakes and waterways of Chautauqua County through the 2 percent occupancy tax is solely dedicated to water resources within the county. Applications may be submitted by various groups and organizations including: not-for-profits, governments, businesses and corporations, public and private schools, and all landowners of Chautauqua County.

Some of the successful projects funded under this program include sediment retention basins, watergardens, buffer strips, habitat improvement projects, and streambank, shoreline and ditch stabilization.

Applications and instructions for the 2 percent Occupancy Tax Grants for Lakes and Waterways are available online at: www.co.chautauqua.ny.us on the County Legislature’s home page or at www.planningchautauqua.com/watershed/index.htm .

Completed applications should be returned by 4 p.m. on June 1st to:
