The United Way of Southern Chautauqua County will officially kick off its 2012 campaign later today. Officials say the campaign goal for the year is $1.31 million – although at least 10 percent of that money has already been raised. At the end of July, a group of 21 local businesses and organizations came together at a Pacesetter Kickoff campaign hosted by Wegmans and they were optimistic that at least $142,000 could be raised during the past month –and-a-half.
This year’s campaign chairman is retired Red Cross Executive Director and Current Chautauqua County Legislator Vince Horrigan of Bemus Point. Today’s official kick-off will take place at 4 p.m. at the Girl Scout Service Center on Horton Rd. in Jamestown.
The local United Way supports 19 partner agencies and 46 programs throughout Southern Chautauqua County.
