PORTLAND – For the second time this month, authorities have shut down a major marijuana growing operation in Chautauqua County.
On Wednesday morning, Investigators with the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s office SWAT Team and the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force seized more than 250 marijuana plants from a grow operation at 7145 Plank Road in the town of Portland Police say the value of the growing operation is estimated at $250,000. Police also allegedly found a quantity of controlled substances, three long guns and a large quantity of cash at the scene.
Officers say two residents are facing pending charges. They are 44 year-old Jerry Erhard and 37 year-old Jenell Long. Each will be charged with second-degree criminal possession of marijuana, unlawfully growing marijuana, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia and unlawfully dealing with a child. Additional charges are likely. Both Erhard and Long were released, pending the processing of all evidence.
