JAMESTOWN – City police have charged an Oklahoma man with criminal possession of stolen property after he drove his semi under the North Main Street viaduct Wednesday morning and got it stuck.
Jamestown police say 54 year-old Rudolf Fokumlah of Oklahoma City was traveling south on North Main Street when he drove a 13-ft high tractor-trailer into the railroad overpass. The overpass has a posted clearance of 12 feet. The incident occurred just after 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.
When city police responded to the accident, they learned the trailer had been reported stolen from Texas. Fokumlah is being held in the city jail and will be arraigned today on charges of third-degree criminal possession of stolen property, failure to obey a traffic control device, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and violating New York State Tax Law for not having a permit.
No injuries were reported and the viaduct will be inspected today for structural damage.
