In the Seneca Nation elections, Barry Snyder won the hotly contested six-way race for Seneca Nation President and will lead the Nation for the next two years. Snyder received 929 votes over Richard E. Nephew, who received 704 votes. A total of 2,636 Seneca voters turned out at the polls on the Cattaraugus and Allegany territories on Tuesday.
This will be Snyder’s fifth term as Seneca Nation president. He will replace outgoing President Robert Odawi Porter, who lost in his bid to serve as treasurer of the Seneca Nation. Instead, Rod Pierce from the Allegany territory was elected to serve as the nation’s treasurer. Geraldine Huff was elected clerk.
