JAMESTOWN – An investigation into drug trafficking and related activity in the Jamestown has resulted in charges being filed against 16 people. The Jamestown Post-Journal is reporting today that 13 people were charged Thursday following a warrant sweep that targeted drug trafficking and activity. Three other people already in police custody face charges as well.
All of the people arrested were charged with third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, a class B felony. Everyone was also from Jamestown, with the exception of one Buffalo resident. The report did not say what drugs – specifically – were involved in the investigation, although two were also arrested on marijuana related charges.
The investigation was a joint effort by the Jamestown Police Department, with the assistance of the New York State Police, Department of Homeland Security, United States Marshals Service and Chautauqua County Probation.
More charges are expected as the investigation continues.
