JAMESTOWN – An estimated 6.5 million people have been left without power thanks to Hurricane Sandy, although only a few pockets in southern Chautauqua County were left without power. The Jamestown Board of Public Utilities received about five calls early last night where trees or parts of trees had fallen on electric lines, but the impact of any outage was restricted to an individual home or neighborhood.
Meanwhile, the Jamestown Post-Journal is reporting several outages in isolated areas for National Grid customers. They included a total of just under 500 costumers in the towns of Busti, Chautauqua, Carroll and Ellery. National grid reminds customers that if they need to report an outage, they can call 1-800-867-5222.
