MAYVILLE – Chautauqua County Executive Greg Edwards says a prescription drug program he initiated three years ago has resulted in over $2.5 million in savings for county residents. Edwards says the ProAct Prescription Discount Card Program was first initiated in December of 2009. Since the program was implemented, residents have filled more than 84,000 prescriptions saving an average of 47 percent per prescription.
According to Edwards, the ProACt program has been made available to residents at absolutely no cost to the county or to taxpayers and has no fees associated with filling a prescription with the card. The Discount Card Program covers every medication, including some pet medications. When residents use the card, they can expect to see savings ranging from 10-20 percent on brand name prescriptions and 20-70 percent on generic prescriptions.
Cards are accepted at most pharmacies within Chautauqua County and at more than 60,000 pharmacies nationwide. For more information please contact ProAct at 1-877-776-2285 or visit www.NYRxDiscountCard.com.
