JAMESTOWN – The James Prendergast Library Board of Trustees is seeking applications from interested community members who would like to be considered as potential trustees. During last week’s board of trustees meeting, the board discussed filling a vacancy that will be coming up at the end of this year with the term of board member Russ Diethrick expiring. Diethrick will have served a maximum number of terms allowed for the organization and will be unable to sign on for another 3-year term. In addition, the board can actually have as many as 15 trustees, although currently it has eleven.
During last Thursday’s meeting, board members felt it would be best to request applications from anyone in the community interested in serving. Residents who are interested can submit an application, detailing his or her background and qualifications, along with why they’d like to serve on the board.
The trustee board meets monthly on the Third Thursday of the month at 12:15. Terms are for three years and you may serve three consecutive terms. All applications must be sent by Nov. 20, 2012 for consideration. Apply on line at the JPLA website or pick up an application at the front desk.
