CASSADAGA – Members of several regional fire departments were busy yesterday morning and early afternoon dealing with a house fire caused by a natural gas explosion. The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office says volunteers from the Sinclairville Fire Department were sent to a house explosion at 3366 Bernard Rd in the Town of Charlotte just before 11 a.m. Sunday. Upon arrival, fire crews found a fully involved fire upon arrival.
Authorities say all occupants of the home were able to get out, but were taken to area hospitals to be treated for minor injury. The Chautauqua County Fire Investigation Team determined the fire and explosion were caused by a natural gas leak inside the basement of the house. The home is a total loss. In addition to the Sinclairville Fire department, crews from Cassadaga, Gerry, Fluvanna, Ellery, Cherry Creek, and Stockton all provided assistance at the scene.
