MORNING NEWS: March 2014 Trial Date Set for all Four Suspects in Carroll Double Homicide Case

August 8, 2013 By WRFA Radio Leave a Comment

MAYVILLE – In an update from a story reported yesterday, the trials for all four of the suspects allegedly connected to the Town of Carroll double homicide in April will take place in March.

According to the Post-Journal, in addition to the case of 34 year old Davide Coggins going to trial on March 11, each of the other three suspects will also see their trial begin on the same date. They are 21 year-old Joshua McCormick, 18 year-old Ricky Knickerbocker and 18 year-old Steven Todd. Coggins and McCormick are each facing two charges of first-degree murder, while Knickerbocker and Todd each face two counts of second degree murder.  All four are also facing burglary and arson charges.

The four men are accused of murdering Gordon and Joyce Skinner of Frewsburg on April 17. The couple was found dead by emergency service workers responding to a fire inside their Wheeler Hill Rd. residence.

Following an investigation, the four men were arrested the next day. Chautauqua County Sheriff Joseph Gerace and District Attorney David Foley accuse the four men of driving to the area from Elmira and allegedly killing the couple at their residence during a home invasion. Court records indicate both were stabbed and their home set on fire. Authorities would not offer details on a possible motive.
