MAYVILLE – The man responsible for the two separate church burglaries one year ago has been sentenced for his crime. Chautauqua County District Attorney David Foley’s office says that 47 year old John Bish was sentenced to an indeterminate term of 2 to 4 years in state prison for two counts of burglary in the 3rd degree.
Bish was found guilty for the burglaries that took place on March 4, 2012 at local churches in the Jamestown area. The incidents took place at the Greek Orthodox Church and the Bethel Lutheran Church. Investigators were able to identify Bish shortly after the crimes took place, after receiving multiple calls and tips from citizens and other law enforcement officials from Erie County who had recognized Bish in photos that had been released to the media.
