JAMESTOWN – A Jamestown man who was arrested for setting fire to his home one year ago this month has been sented to four years in prison. The Chautauqua County District Attorney’s Office says 48 year old Ronald Smith, of 21 Sturgess St., received his sentence Monday in county court. In addition to his time in prison, Smith was also given 5 years post release supervision. The sentence was for the charge of attempted arson in the 2nd degree.
In April 2012, Smith was arrested for setting fire to his home at 21 Sturges St. after a heated argument. Members from the Jamestown Fire Department were able to quickly extinguish the fire before it reached the main floors of the home. The majority of the damage was to the walls, ceiling and main water line in the basement.
