JAMESTOWN – Two local men are behind bars for their alleged involvement in a marijuana growing operation and several burglaries around the Jamestown area. Jamestown Police Captain Robert Samuelson says it was a joint investigation with Ellicott police and state Division of Parole the led to the arrest of 34 year old Kenneth Wynn of Jamestown and 25 year old Kevin Schrecengost of Celoron.
Police say Wynn was charged on Monday following a routine parole visit at his residence at 610 Jefferson St. in the city. Officers found two handguns in the home, which led to a search warrant being issued and more than 50 marijuana plants discovered growing in the attic.
During the investigation, investigators determined that the handguns were allegedly taken during a recent burglary. A third weapon tied to the burglary was found to be at a residence in Celoron. Ellicott police say Schrecengost is allegedly connected with four separate burglaries that occurred in Celoron and police are looking into other burglaries as well.
Wynn was charged with parole violation, two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of stolen property. Schrecengost was charged with four counts of burglary, three counts of grand larceny and one count of petit larceny.
Samuelson said the investigation is ongoing and more charges are expected.
