JAMESTOWN – When it comes to the best tasting water in Chautauqua County, Jamestown has the competition beat.
Chautauqua County Health Director Christine Schuyler says the city of Jamestown was the overall winner in the annual Water Tasting Contest held at Chautauqua Mall this past Friday. The Village of Fredonia placed second and also took the top spot in the surface water category. Jamestown draws its water from a number of ground water sources. The water is distributed by the Jamestown Board of Public Utilities.
More than one hundred people judged the annual event which also included water from Westfield, Brocton, Ripley, Frewsburg, Mayville and Sherman.
Jamestown will now go on to represent Chautauqua County in the regional competition to be held in Rochester in July.
