JAMESTOWN – Nearly 20 people have come forward and applied for the position of Superintendent for Jamestown Public Schools. That’s according to Jamestown School Board President Joe DiMaio, who provided an update on the search for the next school superintendent last week following the deadline for applications.
DiMaio said that as of Tuesday, March 19, a total of 18 resumes had come in to the district office. DiMaio also said that starting in April the school board will begin reviewing applications and interviewing prospective candidates to replace outgoing superintendent Daniel “Deke” Kathman, who will be retiring at the end of this school year.
Kathman will not be part of the selection process. Instead, the Jamestown school board is using the assistance of Dr. David O’Rourke, District Superintendent Erie 2 BOCES, to serve as the Search Consultant to the Board. Several community members and representatives have also been tapped to help in the selection process.
Preliminary interviews of candidates will begin the week of April 22, with final interviews scheduled for the week of May 6.
