BUSTI – A Jamestown man died over the weekend while participating in a race at State Line Speedway Race track in Busti.
According to the Jamestown Post-Journal, the death was the result of a pre-existing condition and was not a result of the crash that took place. The crash took place shortly after the E-Mod race began at 10 p.m., Saturday night when a car driven by 50 year old John Kelsey drove into the wall. Kelsey was not responsive and was taken to WCA hospital, where he was pronounced dead by Chautauqua County Coroner James Jackson.
Following an investigation, Lakewood-Busti police said the crash did not contribute to Kelsey’s death; a police report cited a pre-existing medical condition as causing the accident. Assisting at the scene were the Busti Fire Department, Alstar Ambulance and Starflight.
