RANDOLPH – A Jamestown man was charged Monday for speeding and drunken driving on the Southern Tier Expressway in Cattaraugus County.
State police in Jamestown say at about 9:13 p.m. Monday they observed a vehicle on I- 86 traveling at a high rate of speed. Once radar was activated, the vehicle was deemed to be going 105 mph.
Troopers stopped the vehicle and found it was driven by 20 year old Lawrence J. Walsh. They say Walsh was administered and failed a field sobriety test. He was placed under arrest transported to police barracks where he provided a blood alcohol sample that is twice the legal limit.
Walsh was charged with speeding, driving while intoxicated and possession of alcohol under the age of 21.
Walsh is to appear in Randolph Court at a later date.
