JAMESTOWN – The Robert H. Jackson Center in Jamestown will be kicking off the sixth annual International Humanitarian Law Dialogs with a special celebration at the Center this weekend. On Sunday, there will be a brick-laying ceremony honoring the prosecutors, an awards ceremony and a panel discussion. Recently appointed Jackson Center President and CEO James C. Johnson will also be in attendance.
The official opening of the dialogs will take place next Tuesday, Aug. 28 at 2:30 p.m. at the Athenaeum Hotel in Chautauqua Institution for the issuance of the 2012 Chautauqua Declaration.
The International Humanitarian Law Dialogs is an historic gathering of renowned international prosecutors from Nuremberg, The International Criminal Court, The International Criminal Tribunals for the former Yugoslavia and Rwanda, The Special Court for Sierra Leone, The Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia and the Special Tribunal for Lebanon.
The 2012 installation of the Dialogs, being held August 26-28 at the Chautauqua Institution, will focus on the theme, “Hybrid International Courts: A Tenth Anniversary Retrospective on the Special Court for Sierra Leone.” The sessions are free and open to the public.
