MORNING NEWS: Four Suspects in Carroll Double Homicide to Appear in County Court

April 26, 2013 By WRFA Radio Leave a Comment

MAYVILLE – The preliminary hearing for the four men accused of killing a Frewsburg couple that was originally scheduled for Thursday morning in Carroll Town Court has been rescheduled for this morning in Mayville.

That’s according to Chautauqua County District Attorney David Foley, who notified the media via a prepared release Thursday morning that the initial time an location for the hearing had been cancelled. The release also said that the proceedings would instead take place this morning at 9:30 a.m. in the Chautauqua County Court in Mayville.

No reason was given for why the time and location of the hearing was changed, although security may have played a role. The Jamestown Post-Journal is also reporting that a Grand Jury has also handed up an indictment against each of the four men, although that has not been confirmed by the D.A.’s office.

The four defendants in the case – 34 year-old Davide Coggins, 21 year-old Joshua McCormick, 18 year-old Ricky Knickerbocker and 18 year-old Steven Todd – have each been charged with two counts of second degree murder following an investigation into the deaths of 66 year-old Gordon Skinner and 59 year-old Joyce Skinner. The Skinners were found dead in their Wheeler Hill Rd. residence the morning of April 17. All four men are from the Elmira, N.Y. area.
