A fire that broke out on Easter morning has destroyed a business in Frewsburg.
The Jamestown Post-Journal is reporting today that several fire departments were called to Hallenbeck Antiques at 30 W. Main St. just after 10 a.m. on Sunday morning. Upon arrival crews found the structure fully involved in flames. Crews were able to get the blaze under control relatively quickly, although the roof of the building was significantly damage and officials say the building may require demolition as a result.
A space heater in a back room inside the business is what most likely caused the fire, although its not known if it was a malfunction or if it caused something nearby to catch fire. Firefighters from Frewsburg, Kiantone, Lakewood, Falconer, Kennedy and Busti responded to the fire. No injuries were reported.
No one was reported injured after a morning fire Saturday on Jamestown’s south side. City fire crews were called to the scene of an apartment fire at 151 Prospect Street. When the fire department arrived, crews were told all occupants were out of the building and no injuries were reported. A report from the city fire investigator said the fire started in the first floor apartment near a gas heater, although the specific cause was not determined and the investigation into the exact cause is underway.
