HARMONY – A hunting accident in the town of Harmony has claimed the life of a Pennsylvania man. The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office says 68 year old Allen “Randy” Smith of Butler, Pa. died after falling out of a tree stand. Deputies say a concerned friend of Smith called them on Tuesday afternoon just after 3 p.m. to report that he had gone out hunting and had not been seen since. Sheriff’s Deputies along with their K9 unit located Smith in a nearby wooded area of of Blockville-Watts Flats Rd. Investigators say it appears that something broke on Smith’s tree stand and he fell approximately 20 feet from the tree. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the coroner. State Police K9 unit, Department of Environmental Conservation, Forrest Ranger, Fire Coordinator, and the Panama Fire Department assisted in locating Smith’s body.
