MORNING NEWS: Erie Police Arrest Two Men Connected to Regional Bank Robberies

November 14, 2012 By WRFA Radio Leave a Comment

ERIE, PA – Two men are in police custody in Erie, Pa. and are believed to be connected to a series of Bank Robberies in Ohio and New York – although Jamestown Police say there does not appear to be a connection with either of the two local robberies that took place on Monday, Nov. 5.

According to an article in the Jamestown Post-Journal, Police in Pennsylvania say the investigation into a body found at an Erie hotel led to the arrest of two people suspected in a series of bank robberies. Investigators say they were called to a downtown Erie hotel on Sunday by someone concerned about an unidentified man’s welfare, after he apparently suffered from a drug overdose. While investigating the death, Erie police arrested two of the man’s acquaintances who were also at the scene. After talking with the men, 34-year-old Anthony Herrmann admitted two robberies in Pennsylvania and 27-year-old Erin Anderson admitted to one.

Investigators are looking at Herrmann and Anderson in several other bank robberies, including two in New York and one in Ohio. Captain Robert Samuelson with the Jamestown Police Department tells WRFA that at this point, there is no connection between the two men in Erie and the First Niagara Bank robberty that took place in Jamestown or the Jamestown Savings Bank robbery in Falconer. Both incidents occurred on Nov. 5.  He adds the investigation into both incidents is ongoing.
