JAMESTOWN – The Lillian Dickson Park playground project is getting a boost from a local club in Jamestown.
The Jamestown Elks Lodge no. 263 has donated $1,000 to help pay for the renovation of the park. Located on Falconer St. between Sturges and Bowen, the Park is the former site of School no. 10 and is named in honor of the school’s first principal, Lillian Dickson, who served from 1893 until 1933.
A fundraising goal of $37,500 has been set by the volunteers and neighbors of the park to purchase preschool handicapped accessible playground equipment and install it by September 2013. The Elks contribution brings the total amount of money raised to date to $2,813.
The next me.ting of the Lillian Dickson Park volunteers will be Tuesday, May 14 at 6:30 p.m. at the Lillian Dickson Park pavilion. Neighbors and friends interested in improving the park much needed and encouraged to attend.
Tax-deductible contributions to the LDP project can be made to the Lillian Dickson Park Non-Endowed Fund at the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation or on line at www.crcfonline.org.
