JAMESTOWN – There’s just two weeks remaining for interested candidates to throw their hat into the ring for the position of Jamestown Public Schools Superintendent.
According to a release sent out by the school at the end of January, March 18 is the deadline for all applications to be submitted to the school district. After that, the school board will begin reviewing applications and interviewing prospective candidates to replace outgoing superintendent Daniel “Deke” Kathman, who will be retiring at the end of this school year.
The Jamestown school board has already sought out the assistance of Dr. David O’Rourke, District Superintendent Erie 2 BOCES, to serve as the Search Consultant to the Board.
In a statement, The Board of Education stated that it is committed to seeking input from various stakeholder groups as they move forward with the process. The District has already appointed Faculty, Support Staff, Administrative and Student and Community Interview Teams within the next few weeks.
The Interview Teams will be involved in the final interview process and will be required to attend a preparation meeting. Preliminary interviews will begin the week of April 22, with final interviews scheduled for the week of May 6.
The next meeting of the Jamestown School board is Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the school administration building at Jefferson School, where the school budget for 2013-14 will continue to be addressed, along with other routine business. The meeting is open to the public.
