ALBANY – Governor Cuomo’s state of the state address contained what could be one of the most progressive agendas in state history. Cuomo called for an increase in minimum wage to $8.75 an hour, improving public safety through a seven-point gun regulation agenda, calling for stricter green house gas regulations and decriminalizing the possession of small amounts of marijuana. He also called for passing a Women’s Equality Act – which would contain a 10 point plan.
Cuomo also talked about ensure fairness in the state justice system by strengthening eyewitness identification and recording criminal interrogations. As far as election laws are considered, the governor called of making the state’s campaign finance laws more fair and require more disclosure and making voting easier by creating an early voting system.
