JAMESTOWN – A recent $50,000 grant from the Chautauqua County Assistance Fund, administered by the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation, to the County will provide emergency home repairs for many area veterans and their families.
Chautauqua County Office for the Aging director Mary Ann Spanos says 15 to 25 percent of individuals waiting for home repair assistance are veterans or widows of veterans. While there are programs in place to help in these efforts, there is often a gap in funding that will cover the entire project. She says money from the community foundation grant will be administered through the Office For the Aging to area veterans, or their widows, based on critical need.
The Chautauqua County Assistance Fund is an endowment fund that has been helping individuals and organizations for over 20 years. Individuals may make a tax-deductible donation to this fund online at www.crcfonline.org. For more information contact the Foundation at 661-3390.
