JAMESTOWN – Chautauqua County will be looking for a new person to help oversee its Veterans Service Agency. Earlier this week Chautauqua County Executive Greg Edwards announced that Veterans Services Director Doug Diers will resign from his position effective August 9.
Diers has accepted a Federal Service teaching position with the Air Force. In his new role, Diers will be working at the Kessler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi to help train the Department of Defense personnel in a wide variety of communication and information systems.
Diers, a retired Master Sergeant with the United States Air Force, served for 20 years in active duty and became the Director of Chautauqua County’s Veterans Service Agency on September 2, 2012.
Edwards said he has begun the process of finding a replacement and will once again establish a bi-partisan committee to review applications for the new Director of the Veterans Service Agency.
