MORNING NEWS: County Officials Discuss Falconer DPF Shop Upgrade

April 16, 2013 By WRFA Radio 1 Comment

MAYVILLE – The preliminary price tag on the cost of updating the County’s Public Facilities Shop in Falconer is about $4,000,000.  That’s according to an article in today’s Jamestown Post-Journal, which says county DPF Director George Spanos presented his argument Monday for upgrades to the Falconer shop – which is location off of East Mosher St. in the village. Spanos delivered his presentation before the County Legislature’s Public Facilities Committee.

According to Spanos, the department has discussed upgrading the facility for over 20 years. Besides being a much older facility compared to the other two in Sheridan and Sherman, the building is also outdated and unable to house some of the larger pieces of highway equipment in the county fleet. The Post-Journal article quotes Spanos as saying it will cost between $200,000 and $300,000 to design this building, with a total cost of about $4,000,000.

Members of the committee said they would be interested in touring the facility to see its condition for themselves. They will then reconsider the project during the committee’s next meeting in May.
