The Chautauqua County Legislature held its first meeting of the new year yesterday in Mayville to dealing with reorganization items. During the meeting legislator Jay Gould (R-Ashville) was once again gain selected to serve as chairman of the panel.
Also during the meeting, Gerry Republican Larry Barmore was reappointed as the legislative majority leader, while Jamestown Democrat Robert Whitney was named legislative minority leader. Whitney will replace Jamestown’s Lori Cornell.
The legislature will begin its committee work for the month of January next week. The January voting session will be held Wednesday, January 23, when lawmakers may act on a resolution dealing with the sale of the Chautauqua County Home to Altitude Health Services of Chicago.
