MAYVILLE – Chautauqua County lawmakers will be meeting in Mayville tonight for another special meeting involving the Chautauqua County Home. During tonight’s special session, the Chautauqua County Legislature will get a report from the Center for Government Research – a Rochester-based firm that was hired earlier this year to do a financial viability study on the home. Tonight’s meeting is expected to be a presentation on the findings of the study, along with options to save money, as well as options for possibly selling the County Home. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. The meeting is open to the public.
Following the presentation, a second meeting will take place at 8 p.m. involving members of the ad-hoc County Home committee. Committee members are expected to continue to discuss the recommendations from the study, and possibly make a recommendation as to how the county should proceed in dealing with the home. That meeting is also open to the public.
Last month, another special meeting of the county home took place, with county officials learning that Absolute Care Facilities Management, LLC – based in East Aurora – and Altitude Health Services, Inc. of Chicago have each placed a bid for the county home through the marketing firm Marcus and Millichap.
County officials are considering the possible sale of the home because of rising costs. In May lawmakers approved a $1.38 million appropriation from the county’s fund balance to match a federal grant that will give the home a $3.6 million revenue boost and help keep it operational through this year and into next year.
