JAMESTOWN – Residents and children in Jamestown had an opportunity to meet some world-renowned athletes yesterday during an open skate at the Jamestown Savings Bank Arena. Hundreds of people stopped by for a free open skate at the arena, which was also attend by several members of the U.S. gymnastics team – including gold medalists for the woman’s gymanastic team Aly Raisman and Jordyn Wieber.
Today, local students will have another opportunity to meet one of the gold medalists as Raisman visits Persell Middle School at 9 a.m. She is coming as part of the “Ask, Listen, Learn” program that is run by the Century Council to educate students on the importance of a healthy lifestyle and the dangers of underage drinking.
The appearance by the gold medalists is in conjunction with the Progressive Skating and Gymnastics Spectacular on Saturday night at the Jamestown Savings Bank Ice Arena.
