JAMESTOWN – The effort to further develop the Jamestown Riverwalk project will be moving forward. On Monday the Jamestown City Council approved a resolution accepting a piece of property from the Gebbie Foundation that will allow for the extension of the Riverwalk on the north side of the Chadakoin River an additional 25 feet. In addition, the city will accept $19,000 in funding from the foundation to help pay for the expansion of the project.
During the meeting, council also approved a resolution accepting a Federal Assistance to Firefighters grant, which will award the city over $460,000 to be used for the purchase of a new pumper truck and a new ambulance for the Jamestown Fire Department. The grant is administered through the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
