JAMESTOWN – There’s a new neighborhood watch group in the City of Jamestown. Earlier this week, the Jamestown City Council gave its approval to the formation of a Neighborhood Watch Group in the area of Falconer, Newton and Winsor streets – near the area of Lillian Dickson Park. City officials say the establishment of the latest group will help to improve the quality of life in the neighborhoods by helping to bring residents together and reducing the potential for crime.
The first major event for the Neighborhood Watch group is to help with the celebration of National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 7 at Lillian Dickson Park. Residents who stop by will have an opportunity to learn more about the Neighborhood Watch Group, in addition to the effort to renovate the park. The event is being hosted by the Friends of Lillian Dickson Park group and will feature food, beverages and music. It will run from 6 to 8 p.m.
We will have more information about the event, as well as the neighborhood watch group, later today during our Community Matters Program, which airs at 6 p.m. right here on WRFA.
