WESTFIED – The effort to merge two Chautauqua County school districts along the Lake Erie shoreline is moving forward. A north county radio station is reporting that residents in both the Brocton Central School District and the Westfield Academy and Central School District approved a merger in a straw vote. The result was an overwhelming 468 for and 77 against in Brocton and 508 to 168 in the Westfield. The vote was non-binding. However, it does show there is an interest in having the effort to merge the two districts move forward. A second vote is scheduled to take place in October.
