JAMESTOWN (Jamestown Audubon) – With entries from around the world, Jamestown Audubon has announced the winners of its 2012 Nature Photography Contest.
The categories for submissions of photographs were Wildlife, Plants/Trees/Fungi, and Landscapes. With Adult and Youth (18 and under or still in high school) Divisions in each category, there were a total of six winners. Hundreds of ntries were submitted digitally and came from as far away as China and Romania.
Winners are:
- Adult Wildlife: Gerald Wilders (Toms River, NJ), “Leaping for Prey”
- Adult Plants: Ricardo Gilson (Meadville, PA), “Wild Oats”
- Adult Landscape: Patty Raydo (Fairview, PA), “Big Sur at Sunset”
- Youth Wildlife: Brandon Abranovic (Scottsdale, AZ), “Sneaking Through”
- Youth Plants: Mayla Mahoney (Enosburg Falls, VT), “Water World”
- Youth Landscape: Hope Harrington (Lompoc, CA), “Mountain Reflection”
Adult winners received $100 plus $50 in photo finishing. Youth winners received $50 and $25 in photo finishing.
Prints of the winning photographs will be on display for viewing by visitors to the Saturday, August 25 Monarch Butterfly Festival at the Audubon Center and Sanctuary.
