MORNING NEWS: Arts Council Features Two New Exhibits

July 20, 2012 By WRFA Radio Leave a Comment

An art installment by Jamestown Artist David Grice. Grice and Nathan Long are showing work in the 3rd on 3rd Gallery in Jamestown until Aug. 17. An opening reception for the exhibit is set for the evenings of both July 20 and 21.

JAMESTOWN – The Arts Council For Chautauqua County has two new shows in their galleries. On July 16, Tapestry – The Art Of Rogers Elementary School opened in the Wright Gallery, and starting this weekend, the 3rd on 3rd Gallery will host Art Show – David Grice & Nathan Long.

One of the pieces by Jamestown Artist Nathan Long that is being displayed in the 3rd on 3rd Gallery in Jamestown. Both Long and fellow abstract artist David Grice are showing work in the Gallery until Aug. 17. An opening reception is set for the evenings of both July 20 and 21.

“Tapestry” features over 250 paintings created by Rogers Elementary students and teachers.  In June of 2012, Rogers Elementary School closed its doors, sending students out for the last time. As a tribute to their experiences at the school, the students and teachers worked with Arts Council teaching artists to create tapestries. “Tapestry” will remain open through August.

In the other exhibit, Nathan Long and David Grice will feature their unique abstract portraits. Both have exhibited in this space as well as in the Wright Gallery, Galactic Systems Forum and other galleries. Receptions for the exhibit will be open to the public today and Saturday July 21 at 7pm.  “Art Show” will close on August 17.

Private viewings off-schedule may be made by calling 716-664-2465, ext. 227. For more information, visit www.artscouncil.com.
