What began as a way for a group of friends to honor one of their own, has quickly turned into an annual event that has raised over $50,000 to date. This year, the 7th Annual “All for Amy” Golf Tournament raised $10,000 for the scholarship fund in memory of Amy King.
The “All for Amy” Fund, administered by the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation, was established in 2006 by the friends of King. Born in Jamestown and growing up in Celoron, Ms. King graduated from Southwestern High School in 1989. On September 11, 2001, King was working aboard United Airlines Flight 175 when it hit the south tower of the World Trade Center in New York City.
Five years later, Ms. King’s friends decided to start a scholarship fund to keep Amy King’s name and spirit alive throughout the community. The “All for Amy” Memorial Scholarship Fund is set to benefit graduating seniors from Southwestern, Maple Grove, Jamestown, Frewsburg,
Falconer, Clymer, Chautauqua Lake, Panama and Sherman school districts with a “B” average or better. Students must also exhibit a well-rounded, caring and kind personality. Preference will be given to students who participate in athletics and community service.
