PENN YAN – A paid staff member of the Tracy Mitrano for Congress campaign team resigned Saturday after the Tom Reed for Congress campaign pointed out a vulgar posting on her personal Instagram account.
The comment by the staff member, whose name is not being released, not only used the F-word and directed toward Reed, but also toward President Trump, law enforcement, and capitalism.
“F— Tom Reed, F— cops, F— Capitalism, F— Trump,” the post stated.
Reed’s campaign spokesperson Abbey Daugherty released a statement Saturday, calling it stunning that a paid member of Tracy Mitrano’s staff would make such statements and attempted to connect the statement as rhetoric from the Mitrano campaign.
Mitrano also released a statement late Saturday saying the statement was not in keeping with the standards to which she has run her campaign and the staffer does not speak for the campaign. She said the staffer has since resigned from the campaign.
