VARYSBURG, NY – A Chautauqua County man is accused of driving while on drugs leading up to a deadly crash this past weekend in Wyoming County.
State police say two motorcycles with two people on each bike were riding on Route 20A near Route 98 around noon on Sunday near Varysburg. They say a car driven by 28 year-old Joshua Huntress of Mayville crossed into the oncoming lanes and struck both of the motorcycles, with 66 year-old Tomasa Martinez dying as a result of the crash.
Huntress is charged with manslaughter and driving while ability impaired by drugs. Huntress was arraigned in Town of Warsaw Court and sent to the Wyoming County Jail, where bail was set at $250,000 cash.
It’s not the first time Huntress was charged with driving while ability impaired. In April of this year he was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs and unlawful possession of marijuana following a Crash on Route 430 in the town of Ellery, where his vehicle went off the roadway.
