MAYVILLE – A Mayville man has been arrested and charged for allegedly possessing methamphetamine.
Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Deputies and the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force went to a residence at 9 E. Marvin St. in the Village of Mayville on Tuesday to investigate the report of a subject possessing a quantity of methamphetamine.
As a result of the investigation it was learned that 35 year-old Dennis Topliffe allegedly had had in his possession a quantity in excess of 4 ounces of liquid methamphetamine.
Topliffe was not at the residence at the time of the investigation. As a result of this discovery the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force obtained an arrest warrant on one count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 2nd Degree, a class A II felony.
On Wednesday the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force located and arrested Topliffe at a location in the Town of Sheridan. He was then taken to the Town of Chautauqua Court where he was arraigned and then remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail without bail pending further action of the court.
