[LISTEN] Arts on Fire: Infinity’s Inaugural Local Artist Showcase

May 30, 2014 By WRFA Radio Leave a Comment

LASPosterJAMESTOWN – An event that showcases local artists while also raising funds for an arts education program is taking place this weekend in downtown Jamestown.

Infinity Visual and Performing Arts, Inc. is hosting its first ever Local Artist Showcase in an effort to promote the talent of our local artists, as well as raise funds for Infinity.

Local Artist Showcase will be held at the historic Jamestown Gateway Train Station from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 31. The event will feature live painting, art making and art for sale by local artists from throughout the Chautauqua Region.

Local Artist Showcase will consist of a live auction of 10 new guitars that have been customized and designed by various local visual artists, as well as a Giant Basket Raffle, 50/50 drawing, food and refreshments, and art activities for children of all ages.

Infinity board member and event committee chairman, Gary Madar, is very excited about this new event; stating, “Infinity, through its very successful Local Music Showcase, has always promoted the musical talent found in Jamestown and the surrounding areas.  Along those same lines, Infinity Executive Director Shane Hawkins and the Board of Directors decided to provide a venue to highlight some of the many gifted artists who work with visual media as well.”

Madar also said that the Local Artist Showcase will provide a family friendly venue for the public to watch “Live Art” being created by Jamestown area artists.  In addition, this event will provide family fun through the opportunity for kids to create various art projects with the assistance of the Infinity staff.  Tied in with the live auction of a variety of professionally hand painted guitars, the event is sure to be an enjoyable Saturday afternoon for all.

Admission is $5 and all students will be admitted at no charge. The live auction will begin at 4 p.m. All proceeds benefit Infinity.

For a list of participating sponsors and artists, or to view and pre-bid on the ten available art guitars, please visit  www.infinityperformingarts.org. Online bids will be accepted until Friday, May 30. For more information about the Local Artist Showcase, please contact the Infinity Center at 664-0991.
