The cold weather may be here to stay, but that hasn’t stopped the effort for members in the Jamestown Community to help with a playground upgrade project
The Kiwanis Club of Jamestown recently donated a $2,500 piece of playground equipment to the Lillian Dickson Park. The new piece of equipment, known as a Flywheel™ Spinner, will be installed in early 2014 when new handicap-accessible preschool equipment will also be installed at the park.
Friends and neighbors of the park have been fundraising for new playground equipment for over a year and a half. Nearly $13,000 has been raised toward the $30,000 goal.
Located on Falconer St. between Sturges and Bowen, the City Park is the former site of School #10 and is named in honor of the school’s first principal, Lillian Dickson, who served from 1893 until 1933.
Tax-deductible contributions to the LDP project can still be made to the Lillian Dickson Park Non-Endowed Fund at the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation, 418 Spring St., Jamestown NY 14701 or on line at www.crcfonline.org.
