JAMESTOWN – The quick thinking of a passing motorist is being credited with saving the lives of two residents from an apartment building fire on the city’s north side about 10:30 Saturday morning.
The Jamestown Post-Journal says Kevin Dahlbeck was passing by a home at 65 Liberty St. when he saw smoke coming from the structure. He quickly pulled over his car and banged on the apartment doors to alert those inside.
Both residents who were in the house at the time were able to make it out safely. The entire second floor of the structure was destroyed and fire officials are still trying to determine the cause.
Three firemen suffered minor injuries while battling the fire. No other injuries were reported.
